Christmas tree lighting set for Dec. 14 [Perryville]

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree. Well it is that time of year again folks. The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the Perryville lot adjacent to Rodgers Tavern will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14. There will be caroling, Santa will make an appearance and crafts and refreshments will be for sale.

Condolences are sent to Jerry and Bruce Van Hart on the passing of their beloved mother, Mabel E. Van Hart. Mabel and her late husband Everett were long-time residents of Perryville Road. They sold their home here on Route 222 and moved up to Cecil Woods. After Everett's passing, Mabel eventually moved to County Meadows Assisted Living Home in York, Pa., where she lived until her passing. An Eastern Star memorial service was held for Sister Mabel by the members of Victory Chapter No. 40 from Aberdeen.

It is with heart-felt sympathy that condolences are sent to the family and the fire personnel family of David Barr Sr. David passed from injuries suffered in the line of duty while directly traffic at an accident scene on Route 40.
