Perryville wins Little League senior softball state title

Perryville Little League's Senior Division softball All-Stars won the Maryland State Championship last weekend in Delmar.

The Perryville Little League Senior Softball All-Stars won the Maryland State title last weekend in Delmar, defeating host Delmar in back-to-back 10-0 wins. Both games lasted just five innings.

The win sends Perryville to the Eastern Region Tournament, set for July 25-31, in Worcester, Mass.


In last weekend's wins, Emily Phillips pitched the game one win, allowing just one hit and two walks, while striking out 11.

Phillips helped her own cause at the plate, pounding out three hits, including a double, and scoring three runs. Jordyn Pollitt added a pair of hits (double), with a run scored and an RBI. Kadi Davis added one hit, three runs and one RBI. Others contributing to the win were Carly White, one hit; Sierra Johnson, one hit, one run, one RBI; Brooke Reynolds, one hit, two runs; and Ashley Phillips, one hit.


In the second game, Melissa Savin collected the win, striking out seven and allowing five hits.

Offensively, Perryville leaders were Savin, one hit, two runs; Emily Phillips, two hits, one run, one RBI; White, two hits, one run; Davis, one hit, one run; Pollitt, one hit, two runs; Kyleigh Knell, one hit, one run, one RBI; Alexxus Ritter, double, two RBIs; Hannah Downes, one hit, two RBIs, one run; and Alyssa Conway, one run.

HdG Junior Baseball

Havre de Grace will begin Maryland State Tournament play Saturday in Denton. Games will be played at Lockerman Middle School.

Havre de Grace will play the District 1 champion at 1 p.m. A win will put Havre de Grace back in action Sunday at 7 p.m. versus host Caroline. A loss and Havre de Grace will be back on the field at 4 p.m. Monday.

Perryville Major Softball

Perryville was eliminated in state tourney play with a pair of losses. The tournament was played at the Preston Little League Fields in South Caroline.

Perryville opened with a 2-0 loss to St. Mary's and then was knocked out by Sharpsburg, 8-1.
