Recyclables lead Bel Air lacrosse league for women

After two nights of play in the Bel Air Women's Summer Lacrosse League, the Recyclables (2-0) are the lone unbeaten team, posting a second straight one-goal win. The latest came over Little Miss Moonshine (1-1), 8-7 at Rockfield Park's Ewing Street Field.

Maddi Cypher led the winners with two goals, while all six other goals were scored by six different players. Scoring were Paige Orpin, Ashley Pietra, Sabrina Spence, Abbey Sasdelli, Rileigh Cypher and Alexis Susa. Kristen Arseneau added an assist.

Kathleen Plumb paced Moonshine with three goals, while Patricia Strother, Sara Pippen, Kelley Duncan and Sydney Tudor each had single goals.

Grace Deckert made eight saves in goal for the Recyclables, including a final stop with just 10 seconds to play. Kaitlyn Neumeister had eight saves for Moonshine.

Tuesday's other game was also a one-goal contest, won by the Dark Knights, 10-9, over 'Merica's.

Brooke Prater pounded the nets six times to lead the Knights (1-1), while Aloise Diedrich, Mackenzie Aponte, Katie Fonte and Gina Reid each had one goal. Aponte and Reid also had assists.

Stephanie Cornbrooks scored three goals to pace 'Merica's (0-2), with Chelsea Wathne and Jessica Tenly each scoring twice and also adding one assist apiece. Lexi Brown and Mallory Vogel also had goals in the loss.

Roxanne Diedrich made seven saves in the Knights win, while substitute goalie Neumister had three saves for 'Merica's, before regular goalie Brittany MacKnew stepped in to make 11 saves.
