The Harford County Department of Community Services will host its seventh annual Volunteer Expo on Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to noon at Patterson Mill Middle/High School, 85 Patterson Mill Road in Bel Air.
The Volunteer Expo features an array of organizations and agencies offering volunteer opportunities in Harford County. The Volunteer Expo is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
The event also provides a fun, comfortable setting for individuals, families and groups to learn more about local nonprofits and the different positions and responsibilities available to volunteers.
"The Volunteer Expo plays a dual role in our community," Department of Community Services Amber C. Shrodes said in a statement. "Many local nonprofits depend on volunteers to provide critical services in our communities, so it is vital to their success. But the Expo also was developed to inspire individuals to engage in our community. Volunteering is proven to enhance personal health, happiness and well-being. It's also a great way to gain job skills, make new friends and build meaningful relationships."
Expo attendees will also learn about resources available to volunteers with limited mobility and opportunities for those who prefer to volunteer via phone or computer. In today's digital age, many agencies need help with email, websites and writing assignments.
