North beats South in UCBAC senior baseball game at HCC

The second annual UCBAC All-star Senior Baseball Game was played Tuesday night at Harford Community College, with the squad of north players topping the south squad, 6-2..

The game featured players from 14 of the 15 public schools in Harford and Cecil counties that make up the UCBAC. Joppatowne was not represented.

Players from Rising Sun, North Harford, Patterson Mill, Perryville, Elkton, Edgewood and Havre de Grace formed the North roster, while players from Fallston, Bel Air, C. Milton Wright, Aberdeen, Bo Manor, North East and Harford Tech formed the South roster.

The North team roster included players from Edgewood, Dennis Stepp, Noah Appel; North Harford, Luke Johnson, Scott Angstadt, Sean Bowling; Patterson Mill, Billy Benson, Matt Sprouse, Jeff Noss; Havre de Grace, Tommy Murtaugh, Connor Donaldson; Perryville, Joel McCall, Casey Andrews; Elkton, Owen Nul; and Rising Sun, Zach Van Dyke, Brennan Martz and Cole Benjamin. Rising Sun's Clyde Van Dyke served as head coach with assistance from Elkton's Josh LeBrun and Rising Sun's Rick Marcus.

The South team roster included players from Fallston, Jared Perry, Mac Nelson, Jake Brelesky; Bel Air, JD Bruck, Mike Feinour, Brendan Yetter; C. Milton Wright, Tom Chiascone, Pete Denardi, Mike Nolte; Aberdeen, Ryan Acree, Owen Smith; North East, Jake Cryan, Carson Webb; Bo Manor, Jacob Winward, David Jackson, Justin Frey; and Harford Tech, Justin Smith and A.J. Borg. Aberdeen head coach Tim Lindecamp also head coached the South, with assistance from CMW's Joe Stetka and Bo Manor's Gary Johnson.

Team selections were based on 2015 regular season results. The North team was comprised of Chesapeake Division team finishes of 1, 3, 5 and 7 and Susquehanna Division finishes of 2, 4 and 6.

The South team was comprised of Chesapeake finishes of 2, 4 and 6 and Susquehanna finishes of 1, 3, 5 and 7.

The North club scored in four different innings to roll up its 6-2 victory margin. Two runs were scored in both the first and fourth innings, with single runs coming across in the sixth and seventh innings. The South scored single runs in the second and seventh innings.

Johnson hit a triple to lead the North offense, while doubles were hit by Benson, Van Dyke and Stepp.

Benjamin, Noss, Angstadt and Bowling all pitched for the North squad, while Smith, Jackson, Perry and Nolte pitched for the South.
