Part of the Millard E. Tydings Bridge, on I-95 over the Susquehanna River between Harford and Cecil counties, was shut down to traffic Sunday after someone is believed to jumped from the bridge, according to police and fire officials.
Maryland State Police and the Susquehanna Hose Company of Havre de Grace responded to call for a body in the water near the bridge at about 4:57 p.m. and found a body on the shoreline at about 5:30 p.m., Susquehanna's Hose Deputy Chief Steven Allers said.
A monitored Harford County emergency radio dispatch reported "a subject jumped from the 95 bridge."
A car was also found parked on I-95 and one right lane was shut down to southbound traffic, Allers and Maryland State Police at the JFK Barrack in Perryville said.
Susquehanna Hose Company activated its dive team to find the victim.
All lanes on the bridge were reopened at about 6 p.m., according to State Police.
No further details, including the identity of the victim or the make of the car, were immediately available.
Sunday's incident was the second in 48 hours in which a body was found after a search in Harford County.
Late Friday afternoon, emergency personnel found a body along Otter Point Creek in the Abingdon area, the Harford County Sheriff's Office confirmed.
That death is being investigated as a probable suicide, Sgt. Thomas Gamble, a Sheriff's Office spokesperson, said Saturday. He declined to release any other details.
