Tech, CMW, Patterson Mill lead busy night of swimming

On a night generally reserved for boys basketball teams, all 10 Harford County public school swim teams were in action with a dual meet and two quad meets.

In the lone dual meet, the powerful C. Milton Wright swimmers continued their display of dominance at North Harford Middle School. The Mustangs won every event in a 208-131 win over Bel Air.

Harford Tech and Patterson Mill were the big winners in quad meet action.

The CMW boys won 112-57 and the girls, 96-74.

The boys were led by four double winners. Ryan Baldino led a 1-2-3 Mustangs sweep in winning the 200 free race and later added a win in the 100 butterfly.

Colin Hildebeidel was a winner in the shortest and longest races, touching first in the 50 and 500 free events.

The Mustangs other double winners were Bernie Chang (200 IM and 100 back) and Matthew Treusdell (100 free and 100 breaststroke).

The Mustangs won all three boys relays, as did the girls, who had a pair of double winners in the O'Mara sisters.

Julia O'Mara won the 200 IM and 100 free races and Lauren O'Mara captured the top spot in the 200 and 500 free heats.

The Mustangs also got wins from Erika Abshire (100 back); Erika Slotnick (50 free); Anne Capozzoli (100 butterfly); and Sarah Cowan (100 breaststroke).

Bel Air's best efforts came from Rebecca Entner, who placed second in both the 200 and 500 free races.

Tech beats Eagles, Cougars, Rams

At Magnolia Middle School, Tech posted combined wins over Edgewood, 189-142; Aberdeen, 166-156;and Fallston, 174-153. Aberdeen beat Fallston, 181-144, and Edgewood, 182-153, while Fallston beat Edgewood, 190-142.

In boys scoring, Tech swept, beating Aberdeen, 97-65; Edgewood, 98-68; and Fallston, 104-56. Edgewood beat Fallston, 97-69, and Aberdeen, 85-81, while Aberdeen beat Fallston, 93-67.

In girls scoring, Aberdeen swept, beating Edgewood, 101-62; Tech, 91-69; and Fallston, 88-77.

In Tech's win, the Cobras were led by three boys with double wins. Tucker Young won the 200 IM and 10 back and Gracen Clem raced to wins in the 50 and 100 free races. Justin Carestia also collected wins in the 500 free and 100 breaststroke races.

Luke Krouse added a win in the 100 butterfly and the Cobras were winners in the 200 medley and 200 free relays.

Tech girls were led by three winners: Taylor Casalena (100 butterfly); Alyssa Carestia (100 back); and Megan Culbertson (100 breaststroke).

Aberdeen's girls swept all three relays and Lauren Drumm was the lone winner. Drumm raced to wins in the 200 IM and 500 free races.

Peter Sheu added a win for the Aberdeen boys, winning the 200 free race.

Fallston added three wins by the girls: Emily Hoyt (200 free); Julia Rose (50 free); and Elizabeth Massetti (100 free).

Huskies best Mariners, Warriors, Hawks

At Edgewood Middle School, Patterson Mill won combined scoring over Joppatowne, 240-63; Havre de Grace, 201-127; and North Harford, 196-136. North Harford beat Joppatowne, 219-70 and Havre de Grace, 176-143, and Havre de Grace beat Joppatowne, 180-72.

In boys scoring, Patterson Mill swept with wins over Havre de Grace, 96-71; Joppatowne, 116-36; and North Harford, 96-72. North Harford beat Joppatowne, 10-6-40, and Havre de Grace, 90-75, and Havre de Grace beat Joppatowne, 92-38.

In girls scoring, Patterson Mill also swept with wins against North Harford, 100-64; Joppatowne, 124-27; and Havre de Grace, 105-56. North Harford won over Joppatowne, 113-30, and Havre de Grace, 86-68, and Havre de Grace beat Joppatowne, 88-34.

Patterson Mill's win was headed by double relay wins for both the girls and boys. The boys won the 200 free and 400 relays and the girls won the 200 medley and 200 free relays.

The girls added three individual wins from Katie Kirkwood (200 IM); Annie Tompkins (100 free); and Delaney Miller (100 breaststroke).

The Huskies added a boys win with Kevin Lingelbach in the 500 free.

North Harford had a pair of double winners. Kyle Russell won the boys 200 IM and 100 breaststroke races and Hillary Young won the girls 200 free and 100 back events.

Luke Johnson added a win in the boys 50 free, while Erin Drumm won the 100 butterfly and Becky Jump the 500 free.

The Hawks also won the girls 400 free relay.

Havre de Grace had a double winner, with Ryan Burkhardt winning the boys 100 butterfly and 100 back races. Carly Hahn added a win for the girls in the 50 free and the Warriors were first in the boys 200 medley relay.
