"Dig into Reading this Summer!" the Harford County Public Library's Summer Reading Program kicked off Monday and is open to children of all ages.
The program has three divisions this year:
"Read to Me, Please!" is designed for the youngest book lovers where babies from birth through pre-K can join and read or listen to 25 books.
"Dig into Reading" is for children entering kindergarten through fifth grade who can join and read 10 books.
"Beneath the Surface" is for middle and high schoolers who can join and read three books.
Register at any public library branch or online at hcplonline.org. The program ends Aug. 17.
Completed book logs can be returned July 1 through Aug. 17 to receive a special completion gift and certificate. The elementary, middle and high school with the highest percentage of students completing the program will receive a trophy, according to the program flier. Completion gifts will be provided as long as supplies last.
There are a variety of other summer reading program related events planned for each branch. For more information, visit the HCPL website.
