C. Milton Wright tops Bel Air, 4-2, in softball Monday

The C. Milton Wright Mustangs completed a season sweep of cross-town softball rival Bel Air Monday, beating the visiting Bobcats, 4-2, in a Chesapeake (upper) Division showdown.

The victory put CMW at 9-6 overall, and 7-4 against upper-division teams. Bel Air fell to 9-4 on the season, and 5-4 in Chesapeake Division contests.


Bel Air struck first Monday as Leah Lozzi ripped a RBI single that scored Kelsey Hilditch, who had reached on a single and moved to third on a throwing error.

The Mustangs waited until the bottom of the fourth to tie the game when Rachel Knoebel scored from third on Cat Kim's groundout.


CMW scored the go-ahead and winning runs in the fifth with Morghan Fulton and Kaitlyn Hamlin each hitting an RBI single.

In the top of the sixth, Bel Air came to within a run of the hosts after Hilditch hit an RBI single that scored Bailey Gasior.

CMW got its final run in the bottom of the sixth when Quinn Ursprung drove Kim home with an RBI base hit.

Fulton went the distance and earned the win after giving up eight hits, striking out four and walking two.

Bel Air's Sarah Fleishmann went 3-for-4, while Hilditch finished the game 2-for-4. Rayn Gibson was 2-for-4 in the loss.

Havre de Grace beats Tech

The Havre de Grace girls earned a road win on Monday, as the Warriors (10-2 overall, 7-2 Chesapeake) topped host Harford Tech, 7-5.

Harford Tech fell to 5-9 overall, and 1-9 in Chesapeake Division games.


Kateri Peters led the Warriors at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a three-run homer and four RBIs. Lindsey Fenner was 3-for-4 with a double, while Rebecca Ashman was 2-for-5 with a double. Megan Thompson went 1-for-3 with a double in the victory.

Fenner tossed a complete game, allowing three hits, striking out six and walking four.

North Harford beaten

The North Harford Hawks (10-3 overall, 5-3 Chesapeake) suffered an 11-7 home-field loss to the Perryville Panthers on Monday.

Alex Lyttle started for the Hawks and went 6-1/3 innings, striking out five, walking two and allowing 10 earned runs on 10 hits.

At the plate, Lyttle went 2-for-3 with two runs and a three-run homer. Krista Hiser belted a two-run homer in the defeat.


Aberdeen defeats Joppatowne

The Aberdeen Eagles (8-5 overall, 8-4 Susquehanna) won at home Monday, knocking off the Joppatowne Mariners, 11-2.

The Mariners fell to 0-14 on the season, and 0-12 in lower-division contests.

Sarah Tyc led the Eagles, driving in three runs, stealing a pair of bases and blasting a triple.

Elkton over Edgewood

The Edgewood Rams suffered a 5-1 defeat at Elkton Monday.


With the loss, Edgewood fell to 2-10 overall, and 2-9 in the Susquehanna Division.

Bo Manor tops Aberdeen

The Aberdeen Eagles suffered a Susquehanna (lower) Division defeat, 12-4, at home Friday to the Bo Manor Eagles.

The loss dropped Aberdeen to 6-5 overall, and 6-4 against lower-division opponents.

Sarah Tyc led Aberdeen at the plate, cracking a home run, driving in three RBIs, scoring twice and stealing two bases. Raechel Bowman had one RBI for the Eagles.

Patterson Mill shuts down Joppatowne


The Patterson Mill Huskies (7-5 overall, 7-3 Susquehanna) pummeled the host-team Joppatowne Mariners, 17-0, in a lower-division contest on Friday.

The game was halted after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Warriors defeat CMW

One day removed from a tough 2-1 loss to the Bel Air softball team, Havre de Grace bounced back with an important Chesapeake (upper) Division victory on Thursday, beating visiting C. Milton Wright, 3-1.

The win put Havre de Grace at 9-2 overall and 6-2 in Chesapeake Division games. CMW fell to 8-6 on the season and 6-4 against upper-division foes.

Havre de Grace plated what would be the game-winning runs in the bottom of the first. Rebecca Ashman led the inning off with a single and later came around to score, as did Taylor Smith, who reached base on an intentional walk.


CMW scored its lone run in the top of the third, when Emily Luzetsky belted an RBI single that plated Rachel Knobel, who had got on with a base hit.

Havre de Grace came through with an insurance run in the bottom of the third, and both teams went scoreless for the balance of the contest.

Megan Thompson tossed a complete game for the Warriors, holding the Mustangs to one run on 10 hits over seven innings.

Harford Tech drops twin bill

The Harford Tech girls were knocked off in both ends of a double-header at Perryville on Thursday, losing the opening game, 17-3, and the second matchup, 12-1.


In the opening contest, the Cobras were led by Ashley Leavens, who went 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI. Emily Wikane was 1-for-3 with a triple.

The second game saw Lindsay Bowler go 1-for-3 with an RBI triple, while fellow Cobra Ally Venuto was 1-for-3 with one runs scored. Wikane went 1-for-2.

Huskies no-hit

Patterson Mill ended up on the wrong end of a no-hitter at Bo Manor on Thursday, as the host-team's hurler Rachel Jones tossed a perfect game to defeat the Huskies, 8-0.
