Maryland's Shi Scott's run on "American Idol" ended Thursday, as she did not earn enough votes to be among the top eight female contestants moving on to the next round.

Scott, 19, who is a former resident of Harford County and current resident of Gaithersburg, made it through auditions in New York City, the grueling Hollywood Week selection rounds in Los Angeles and ended up as a member of the Top 12 women and girls who performed in Detroit.

Scott performed live at The Fillmore in Detroit last week, and then viewers logged their votes for their favorite Top 12 performer by phone, text message or online. The top eight vote-getters among the women were revealed during Thursday's episode, which aired live on Fox.

The top eight performed in front of a live audience, and judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr., at The Fillmore again Thursday.

Because she did not get enough votes, Scott wasn't in the group that will move on to become in hopes of becoming this season's "American Idol."
