Four inmates at the Harford County Detention Center are charged with allegedly sexually assaulting another inmate while looking for drugs.
Guy Allen Butz, 27, of the 15900 block of Brood Fording Road in Hagerstown, is charged with second-, third- and fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault; Lawrenzer Walker, 30, whose only address is the Harford County Detention Center, and Luis Colon Jr., 21, of the 1700 block of Crimson Tree Way in Edgewood, are charged with conspiracy to commit fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault; and James A. Gascon, 28, whose address is also at the detention center, is charged with fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault in connection with the incident.
Their alleged victim is an inmate who had recently been moved to their dorm at the detention center. The man told sheriff's deputies that 15 to 20 minutes after lights out on March 4, Colon approached him, said he knew the victim had drugs on him and said "I'm going to put it to you nicely. If you have anything just kick it out," according to charging documents.
The inmate thought Colon was playing a joke because he was new to the block, but Colon became more aggressive. The others joined in and the alleged assault occurred.
Around 5:30 a.m., as the inmates were getting ready for breakfast, the victim told corrections officers about the assault, according to charging documents.
The four men were then interviewed and charged.
Butz and Walker are being held on $25,000 bail; Colon is being held on $50,000 bail and Gascon is being held on $15,000 bail.
According to online court records, Butz has been serving an 18-month sentence for a 2013 conviction for a theft scheme between $1,000 and $10,000.
Colon has been in jail awaiting trial on first-degree arson and related charges from 2014, according to court records.
Gascon has been in jail awaiting trial in multiple cases involving burglary and related charges, according to court records.
Walker's only case listed in online court records under Lawrenzer Walker, is the alleged sex assault at the jail; however, Kyle Andersen, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office, said it appears Walker has been held at the detention center on a failure to appear warrant from a second degree burglary case, under which his name is listed in court records as "Lorenzo Walker."
