Harford schools set 5 p.m. public budget meetings

Harford County's public school superintendent will host a series of meetings next week to obtain input on the next budget.

Barbara Canavan, superintendent of Harford County Public Schools, is trying to work with the community to make sure everyone has a chance to be involved in the development of the Harford County Public Schools FY2015-2016 operating budget.

In addition, members of the community can email ideas and suggestions to budget@hcps.org at any time throughout the process. The school system is also adding a Twitter chat.

The scheduled meetings will be Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m. in the Media Center at North Harford High School; Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. via a Livestream presentation on http://www.hcps.org (the presentation will be available for on-demand viewing at this time) and at 5 p.m. in the Media Center at Aberdeen High School; Thursday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m. in the Media Center at C. Milton Wright High School.

The approved operating budget for fiscal year 2014-2015 was $426.9 million.
