Ruth Foard began working at McComas and Lutz Appliance Store when it was located in part of the former Harford Hardware at the corner of Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The store, later named just Lutz's, moved to its final Main Street location in 1947.

Having worked her way up through the company, she served as President of Charles L. Lutz Inc. until its closing. She was not only a witness to the transformation of business activity along Main Street in Bel Air, but she was an integral part of it.

She has contributed a lifetime of leadership to the business community and a multitude of unselfish deeds of charity to many along the way.
