Tisch and Kays are fastest at Fall Duathlon in Churchville

Rob Tisch and Danielle Kays led all the way in the RASAC Fall Duathlon Sunday in Churchville.

Tisch completed a 1.5-mile run, 17.3-mile bike, and a second run of 3.1 miles in 1 hour and 23 minutes to win the semi-annual race by 39 seconds. Kays kept pace with Tisch through all three phases as he clocked 10:26 in the first run, averaged 20.4 mph on the bike, and closed with a 19:37 on the second run.

With a finishing time of 1:23:58, Kays was first among the women by almost 10 minutes. Jennifer Meis placed second in 1:33:14, and Amee LaBonte, third in 1:36:39.

Mark Downes was the runner-up among the men in 1:25:22. Mike LaFiondra, fastest in the bike phase at 21.1 mph, took third place in 1:25:28. Mike Kemen was fourth in 1:29:08.

In races elsewhere. . .

Meghan McAdorey, of Bel Air, finished third among the women in the Marian House 5K in Baltimore Saturday. She placed third overall among the women. Janet McAdorey, her mother, led the 50-59 age group in 25:03, and father Hugh McAdorey took fifth in the men's 50-59 in 24:00. Also among the 460 finishers, Marge Rosasco, of Joppa, led the 60-69 women in 25:28, and Kalyn Crocetti, of Joppa, took third in 16-19 in 28:33.

Patrick Hairfield, of Abingdon, was seventh overall among 206 finishers in the Race for Our Kids in Baltimore Sunday in 37:07. Megan DiGregorio won the women's race in 38:08 followed by Megan McNew in 39:23.

Jennifer Bouffard, of Fallston, led the 40-49 age group in the Blazer Dash in Towson Sunday in 21:40, placing second overall among 268 women. Abby Potter, of Kingsville, led the 15-19 women in 21:49.

Sarah Zephir-Thomason, of Forest Hill, finished third among the women in the Dogfish Dash 10K in Milton, Del., Sunday. She led the 30-39 age group in 43:39. Also among the 587 finishers were David Stevenson, seventh overall in 39:15, and Robert Stevenson, ninth in 39:37.

Angela Bissett, of White Hall, won the women's race of the Zero Prostate Cancer 10K in 44:55 in Towson Sunday. Finishing fourth behind her was Meghan Moore of APG in 46:30. Judy Frederique, of Bel Air, placed ninth in 48:25. Among the men, Eskan Davis of APG was sixth in 42:54, and David Stevens of White Hall, ninth in 44:42.

Alex Loper, of Bel Air, won the Run Wild for Autism 5K in Baltimore Sunday.

In the 40-49 age group, Brian Lupus, of Bel Air, finished second in 23:03, and Mike Mathias, of Bel Air, third in 23:11.

Zach Zander, of Havre de Grace, ran 1:29:35 in the Bachman Valley Half Marathon in Westminster Sunday, finishing seventh among 184. Kirk Ingold, of Bel Air, placed 16th in 1:34:36.

Bill Brown Youth Cross Country

Two-hundred, ninety-four young runners competed in the first race of the 2013 Bill Brown Youth Cross Country Series Sunday at John Carroll School in Bel Air. Race winners by age group were Hunter Crowley (6:11) and Rebecca Cross (6:19) in the age-12-13 mile; Justin Motsay (3:01) and Abigail Baummer (3:02) in the 10-11 half mile; Corey Daley (3:04) and Finley Lavin (3:19), 8-9 half mile; Thomas Hinton (3:32) and Jazlyn Ware (3:35), 6-7 half mile; and Blake Wancowicz (1:48) and Gyte Derby (1:53), under-6 quarter mile. The series continues Oct. 13 with the second race at C.Milton Wright High School.
