The 27th Annual Hinte-Anderson Trail Run 50K began in snow and finished in mud Saturday, an unusual combination one runner described as a miserable mess. In the slick footing, 125 of the 402 starters did not finish – but one set a record.
Jackie Palmer, a PhD student at the University of Delaware, broke the women's record on the 31-mile course in Susquehanna State Park by finishing in 4:37:58. Palmer, 27, was the women's runner-up last year and also in 2012 when the course turned to mud after a rainstorm. This time, she finished sixth overall, leading the second-place woman by two miles.
Maddy Hribar, of Newburyport, Mass., finished second behind her in 5:01:08, and Megan DiGregorio of White Marsh, was third in 5:01:10.
Christopher Beck, 39, of Baltimore, repeated as men's winner in 4:13:11, beating by 12 minutes James Blandford of Hamburg, Pa., the runner-up last year. Joe Crawford of Virginia took third in 4:30:29.
Matt Burdette of Churchville was the first finisher among Harford runners. He placed 17th in 5:00:24 and fourth in the 30-39 age group. Saul Duarte of Abingdon was 21st in 5:02:46 and third in 50-59. Phillip Pawlukovich of Forest Hill was 23rd in 5:11:56.

BG5K in Bel Air
Mike Feinberg led a 1-2-3 masters finish in the second annual BG5K in Bel Air Sunday.
The 51-year-old Bel Air resident ran 18:03 to finish ahead of 186 others on the Ma & Pa Trail. Eric Estrada, 43, of Parkville, took second in 21:02 and Dan Driscoll, 43, of Bel Air, third in 21:09.
Olivia Schleicher of Bel Air led the women in 21:40, winning by 1:40 over Tarah Wilson of Bel Air. Mallory McCloskey of Abingdon finished third in 23:55.
The Rosasco family of Joppa took first place in three age groups. Carole led 50-59 women in 24:08; Marge, 60-and-over in 25:07; Steve Jr., 50-59 in 21:53. Mark Rosasco placed third in 50-59 in 23:09, one place ahead of Harford County Executive Barry Glassman, who ran 23:39.

Tyler Muse of Bel Air led a field of 127 in the Running with the Gators 5K in Perry Hall Saturday, winning by 3 seconds in 18:08. Justine DiGregorio of White Marsh led the women in 20:12.
Donna Lewis of Bel Air placed second among women 60 to 64 in the Caesar Rodney Half Marathon in Wilmington Sunday in 1:48:01. Also among the 830 finishers were Scott Smith of Abingdon, 1:49:53, and Brad Roberts of Bel Air, 1:55:09. Justin Morris of Abingdon placed fourth in the 5K in 18:44.
In the Wake Forest Open track meet Saturday, Harford Tech grad Jheniel Kelly doubled with a 2:13.11 in the 800 and 4:44.65 in the 1500. The UMES junior placed seventh in the 800 and 16th in the 1500.
Aberdeen High School alum Jimmia McCluskey won the 100-meter dash in the Philadelphia College Classic Saturday at Franklin Field. The Temple University sophomore was timed in 12.34 seconds.
McCluskey's former Aberdeen teammate, Nia Alleyene, got a personal best in placing fourth in the triple jump in the Wake Forest Open. The Fairleigh Dickinson junior soared 38-2 3/4. In the same meet, another Aberdeen grad, Donisha Porter of UMES, threw 39-2 1/2 in the shot put and 117-8 in the discus.
Edgewood High School senior Langston Gash opened the track season Saturday with two personal bests in the Seahawk Invitational Saturday at South River High School. He won the 800-meter run in 2:02.24 and finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run in 15:57.39.
