The Maryland State Highway Administration said Tuesday that Route 24 (Rocks Road) has re-opened between Rocks Chrome Hill Road and St. Clair Bridge Road in Rocks State Park, following nearly eight months of work to shore up the road along the bank of Deer Creek.
Crews placed portable digital message boards along Route 24 to share the good news and alert motorists the road is again open to all traffic, the SHA said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.
The 1,800-foot stretch of road had been closed to all traffic since mid-July for slope protection along Deer Creek and the roadway reconstruction project.
Even with the road open, the SHA said crews will continue construction work through early summer with temporary daytime single-lane closures and flagging operations on Route 24 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists are advised to look ahead for construction crews and equipment moving through the work zone.
Corman Construction of Annapolis Junction is completing the $6.2 million construction project.
