New Carrollton woman killed in crash near Havre de Grace identified

A 77-year-old New Carrollton woman was killed early Monday morning in a two-car crash on Route 155 in Havre de Grace that also injured several people.

The fatal accident was the most series incident reported in Harford County over the three-day Memorial Day weekend. In addition to an assortment of motor vehicle accidents that included a toddler being struck in Edgewood on Sunday, a 2-year-old was bitten by a dog in Bel Air Sunday.

The dead woman, identified Tuesday as Gloria Vasquez-Fierro, was one of six people in a 2012 Chrysler minivan that collided with another van that was pulling two motorcycles on a trailer, according to Lt. DeCourcey of the Maryland State Police.

The Chrysler, driving by Clara Leonar Vasquez-Villalta, 59, of Lanham, was exiting I-95 and at Route 155 and had stopped at the stop sign to turn left near Havre de Grace, DeCourcey said.

As Vasquez-Villalta made the left onto Route 155, the Chrysler was hit in the driver's side front and side doors by a 1985 Ford Econoline van, driven by Justin Charles Lamont Brown, 24, from Charlotte, N.C., DeCourcey said. Four people were in Brown's van.

The minivan spun around and skidded off the road for about 50 feet, he said, before coming to rest in the grassy area next to Route 155.

Pronounced dead at the scene was the passenger sitting behind Vasquez-Villalta; the woman was not wearing a seat belt, DeCourcey said.

The nine people in both vehicles were taken by ambulances with non-life-threatening injuries to Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.
