Crash involving dump truck in Darlington sends one to shock trauma

A crash involving a dump truck in the Darlington area Thursday afternoon sent one person to a regional trauma center, Maryland State Police said.

A passenger car collided with the truck on Route 136 just south of Harmony Church Road near the Deer Creek bridge, Sgt. Cummins from the Bel Air Barrack said. The accident was reported shortly after 4 p.m.

An unidentified person in the car was flown by Medevac to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Cummins said. He could not disclose the extent of injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, the dump truck crossed the double yellow line and struck the car, Cummins said.

The road was reopened as of 6 p.m., but an investigative crew was still on the scene.
