A threat of heavy rain Friday has forced the cancellation of the annual ceremony to illuminate the Concord Point Lighthouse in Havre de Grace pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October.
In addition, outdoor activities are postponed until Oct. 9 for the city's First Friday event also scheduled for Friday, which was to have a "Paint the Town Pink" theme and feature a number of opporunities to contribute to the fight against breast cancer.
First Friday indoor activities will go on as scheduled, the City of Havre de Grace announced via Twitter.
Harford County Executive Barry Glassman, Havre de Grace Mayor Bill Martin and the Friends of the Concord Point Lighthouse were planning to illuminate the historic lighthouse pink for the sixth year in an early Friday evening ceremony.
There are no plans at this time to reschedule the ceremony, according to Cindy Mumby, spokesperson for the county executive. She said other arrangements would be made to carry on with illuminating the lighthouse in pink for the month.
