Deputy state fire marshals have charged a 14 year-old boy with arson after a fire in a house trailer March 18 in the 1600 block of Perryman Road in Perryman.
The 5:01 p.m. fire involved a house trailer that was in transition to being used for a full-time residence, according to a news release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
Investigators determined the fire originated in the interior of the trailer and radiant heat from that fire ignited a nearby shed.
Deputy state fire marshals received numerous tips and eventually determined the 14-year-old was responsible. Although no one was injured, the fire caused an estimated $5,000 in damage, according to the Fire Marshal's Office.
The boy has been charged with first-degree arson, first-degree malicious burning and vandalism more than $500. He was released to the custody of his parents pending further action by the Department of Juvenile Services, the Fire Marshal's Office said.
A motive for the fire has not been established.
