A large portion of the public parking lot along Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed for renovations beginning Thursday, Nov. 17, through Friday, Dec. 9.
The closure of the parking lot is required to construct a stormwater management project that includes removing the existing concrete center walkway and replacing it with pervious concrete pavers and installing a drain system, according to Steve Kline, public works director for the Town of Bel Air. The project is scheduled to be substantially completed by the middle of December and the majority of parking spaces will reopen for use at that time.
Visitors spending more than 15 minutes in town are encouraged to use the parking garage during these renovations. The town is working with Imark Builders, the contractor for the project, to keep two sections of the parking lot open during construction. The sections of parking lot that will remain open during construction will be designated for 15-minute and one-hour parking. The 15-minute parking spots are being designated to accommodate food pickups, dry-cleaning and other quick stops near appropriate establishments.
Town officials said they apologize for any inconvenience to visitors. Anyone with questions regarding the project can contact the Town of Bel Air Department of Public Works at 410-638-4536.
