A 50-year-old woman was taken to a regional hospital Thursday evening after being injured by a vehicle that left the scene in the 1000 block of Old Philadelphia Road in Aberdeen, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
Edward Hopkins, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office, said the woman was taken to John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore and had told police she was struck by a tractor-trailer.
Hopkins identified the victim as Desiree Wainwright, of the 400 block of Philadelphia Road in Perryman.
According to Hopkins, Wainwright was driving a moped and had pulled onto Philadelphia Road around 6:35 p.m. when the accident occurred.
It is possible Wainwright may have actually struck the trailer portion of the tractor-trailer, Hopkins said, adding that it is also possible the tractor-trailer's driver may not have realized anyone had been hit.
At 9:15 p.m., Hopkins said Wainwright was in stable condition at Johns Hopkins Bayview and her Injuries were not believed to be life threatening. The investigation is continuing.
