Pedestrian hit, killed on Route 24 in Edgewood

A pedestrian was struck and killed early Saturday morning in Edgewood, according to Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched at 1:03 a.m. Saturday to Route 24 between Edgewood Road and Trimble Road in Edgewood, according to a release from the fire company.

Units arrived at 1:05 a.m. to find a single vehicle that had hit a pedestrian.   The adult male pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:08 a.m.  He had no identification, the release said.

The woman driving the vehicle the hit the pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air with minor injuries, according to the release.

Maryland State Police Troopers are investigating the cause of the incident.

The road was closed for approximately 3 hours for the investigation, according to the fire company.
