Five people have been charged with murder in connection with a deadly, drug-related home invasion robbery in Cecil County Tuesday.
The suspects include an Aberdeen man who is in critical condition after exchanging gunfire with the victim of the home invasion, who later died, according to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say Kenneth Lee Curry, 19, was targeted because the suspects believed his North East home contained drugs and money. He was shot inside his home in the botched robbery and later died, according to the Cecil Whig.
One of the suspects, William L. Dodson, 21, of Rosedale, allegedly bought illegal drugs at the home, then texted the other suspects, who came in and ordered everyone in the home to get on the floor.
The suspects were wearing masks and two of them displayed handguns when they ordered Curry to “hand over the stuff,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
Another suspect, Justin Leander Jones, 25, of Aberdeen, remained at a Delaware hospital in critical condition Wednesday.
Jones had just been released on $50,000 bond Saturday after being charged with burglary, theft and vandalism in Harford County.
The other suspects are identified as Tabitha C. Nelson, 23, of the 100 block of Hollis Circle in Elkton; Angela L. Williams, 22, of the 100 block of Harmony Chapel Road in Conowingo; and Devon T. Ellwood, 18, of the 200 block of Mackall Street in Elkton.
The five suspects are charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree-assault, second-degree assault, armed robbery and possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony.
