Harford County Executive Barry Glassman announced this week that he will be elevating Cindy Mumby to be the new director of the Harford County Office of Governmental and Community Relations.

Mumby has been deputy director of the agency since Glassman revived it upon taking office as county executive last December. The previous director, Bret Schreiber, voluntarily left the post in June, according to statements from county government at the time.

"Cindy Mumby has been an invaluable member of my management team during our first nine months," Glassman said in a statement. "She has been an effective spokesperson for the changes and direction that the administration is taking Harford County. She also embodies my policies of transparency and openness with our community partners and the Baltimore area media."

According to a news release, Mumby will continue to serve as the chief spokesperson as the Glassman Administration along with overseeing the Office of Governmental and Community Relations and the Division of Citizen Affairs and Administrative Services. She will also continue in her role as the county's government's dedicated liaison to the Board of Education.
