The MS Walk Bel Air attracted an estimated 600 walkers on a sunny, breezy Sunday morning, raising more than $67,000 for MS research and local programs and services, according to organizers.

Walkers of all ages trooped and sprinted along the downtown sidewalks on the three-mile route that started at Bel Air High School.

The walk is one of 11 held around the state this year, the signature event of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Maryland Chapter, which says last year's events raised more than $1.1 million and attracted 8,000 walkers and volunteers across Maryland.

Participants in Sunday's MS Walk Bel Air have until June 1 to keep fundraising, said Katie Amos, senior development manager for the National MS Society, Maryland Chapter.
