The bloodlines of a famous Harford County-based bull helped a young exhibitor from Pylesville take top honors during the Mason-Dixon Junior and Open Heifer Show held at the fairgrounds on July 10.
Timothy Hopkins from Pylesville brought home Supreme Champion Female with his Charolais heifer for both the Junior Show and the Open Show, which is the best of all breeds exhibited. Beef show superintendents Tom and Tracy Raab said exhibitors from Maryland and Pennsylvania competed for various honors.
The heifer Timothy showed is a locally bred granddaughter of past National Champion Bull, SSF Corks 5J White Squall ET, which is owned by Bob and Judy Tibbs from Havre de Grace.
Timothy is preparing to compete in the Harford County Farm Fair, Maryland State Fair and the Keystone Show, which is a national show for the Charolais breed.
