Sunday’s planned Ma & Pa Trail Connection Awareness Walk was postponed because of rain and has been rescheduled for Sunday, Nov. 12, beginning at 1 p.m.
As before, participants will meet at the Williams Street trailhead in Bel Air, where a bus will take them to the Blake’s Venture trailhead between Forest Hill and Bel Air.
From there, everyone will walk along the proposed connection route through Bel Air, finishing at Williams Street. The distance of the walk is approximately two miles.
Participants should bring water and have appropriate footwear, as the route is not a paved trail and there are a few streams to cross.
The Ma & Pa Trail Inc., a local nonprofit that advocates for the popular trail, has been holding the awareness walk annually for several years, as part of its effort to see the Fallston to Bel Air and Forest Hill legs of the trail connected.
Harford County has acquired the necessary easements and has been seeking grant funding to build the connection, according to Phil Hosmer, of the Ma & Pa Trail Inc.
The route of the connection has not fully been determined, Hosmer said last week, but the awareness walk will provide trail enthusiasts with an idea of where the connection will one day be built.
