The Gallery at the Liriodendron in Bel Air is featuring the work of three award winning Harford County artists through the end of July, after a previously scheduled show "unexpectedly canceled" at the last minute.
John Sauers, Jonathan West and Justin Woytowitz are presenting a three-man show called "The Three J's," according to Harford County Councilman Jim McMahan, president of the nonprofit Liriodendron Foundation, Inc., which manages the former Kelly mansion at 502 W. Gordon St.
"The Gallery Committee is elated to have these three artists hang their works on short notice after the scheduled show, 'Through the Eyes of Jasmin Marie' unexpectedly canceled," McMahan said Wednesday. "Unfortunately, what happened was beyond anyone's control.
Ellen Pons, substituting for Gallery Director Mary Jane Blasi, who is out on medical leave, said: "These three artist friends often cross paths plein air painting in the area" and working in oils and mixed media "blend perfectly in this three man show."
Woytowitz shows regularly at Arts by the Bay Gallery in Havre de Grace, and all three artists work in oils. Sauers and Woytowitz have produced outstanding paintings of scenes throughout Harford County, Pons said, while West's works "are vibrant impressions of nature and emotions."
"The Three J's" art is on display through July 24 in the gallery on the second floor of the mansion. Gallery hours are Sundays 1-4 p.m. and Wednesdays 1-7 p.m. Admission to the gallery is free. The gallery will be closed on Sunday, July 3.
