No Thanksgiving-eve liquor violations were reported at two of Bel Air's busier bars, one of which got a new license, the Harford County Liquor Control Board reported.
Two officers were posted at Looney's and two at MaGerk's from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 1 a.m. Thursday, to watch for liquor violations; none were found, Inspector Danielle Markette told the liquor board Wednesday.
The officers were provided as part of a grant program.
Liquor board administrator Judith Powell also said Nicholas J. Creed would be replacing one of the licensees at Looney's who was stepping down.
Restaurant update
Licensees from Bellissimo restaurant in Bel Air provided an update on their renovation plan, as it is planning to change the eatery's design and concept.
The restaurant is having wood pieces and ceiling fans installed, columns for its deck are being delivered and work is being done on concrete floors and steps to be stained, according to a report requested by the liquor board.
The board had earlier expressed concern the renovation went beyond an original approval for some exterior remodeling.
Special events
The board approved a one-day beer and wine license for a Dec. 17 employee holiday party at Harford Community College and a Dec. 18 Christmas Amore concert for the Harford County Chamber of Commerce.
A one-day beer, wine and liquor license was also approved for a Dec. 4 tree lighting and happy hour for the Rockfield Foundation.
Holiday closures
The board agreed to close its office on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 in line with county government closures.
