For the 23rd year, the Level Volunteer Fire Company held its Play it Safe Safety Camp at the company's station in Level this week.
The three-day free camp is designed to educate elementary school-age kids on how to prevent accidents, prepare for the unexpected and properly react in a variety of emergency situations through fun-filled lessons.
The 100 campers were rotating among stations around the firehouse Thursday with activities such as making an emergency pet disaster kit and properly using a fire extinguisher with a special fire extinguisher simulator.
They also got to watch firefighter Matthew Saylor suit up as he explained the different parts of his suit and the function of each piece.
Squirting a fire hose was another popular spot for Thursday's session. Campers even got to pretend they were responding to a fire with a ride on a fire engine. Other safety items covered during the week of camp, which ends today (Friday) were bicycle safety, water safety and school bus safety.
