Two men – one from Havre de Grace and the other from Edgewood –have been charged with robbing two people in a car early Monday morning in Joppatowne.
Khalil Terraine Scruggs, 21, of the 400 block of Majestic Prince Circle, and Briondre R. Gaines, 23, of the 1600 block of Meadowood Court, were charged Monday with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, robbery, use of a firearm in a violent crime, theft less than $1,000 and two counts each of first- and second-degree assault in connection with an armed robbery around 12:05 a.m. Monday in the 900 block of Rumsey Place in Joppatowne.
Harford County Sheriff's Office deputies were called there by two victims, a 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, who told deputies they were sitting in a car when someone approached them, according to a statement from the Sheriff's Office.
The robber approached the driver's side and demanded the contents of the woman's purse, they told investigators.
After searching the area, deputies found Scruggs and Gaines and arrested them. Deputies are searching for a third person who ran off.
Scruggs and Gaines are being held at the Harford County Detention Center, both on $100,000 bail.
