Motorcyclist seriously injured in Joppatowne crash Sunday night

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident in Joppatowne Sunday night, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said.

At approximately 7:43 p.m. deputies were called to the 600 block of Town Center Drive for a single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle, where they found a 48-year-old man lying on the ground after being thrown from a motorcycle, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

While being treated at the scene by deputies and paramedics, the subject went into cardiac arrest and was subsequently flown by Maryland State Police Medevac to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma for further life saving treatment, according to Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Thomas Gamble.

The cause of the single vehicle accident remains under investigation. Accident reconstructionists are assisting the deputies who responded, the Sheriff's Office said.

Town Center Drive was closed for approximately 45 minutes as a result of the crash and investigation.
