Jarrettsville 7-Eleven robbed by machete-wielding suspect

A 7-Eleven in Jarrettsville was robbed early Tuesday morning by two people, one of them wielding a machete, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said.

Two people entered the store, in the 1700 block of West Jarrettsville Road, shortly before 2:35 a.m., according to a Sheriff's Office flier.

One robber was armed with a machete and demanded money from the clerk. After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the suspects fled in the direction of High's store on Federal Hill Road, according to the flier.

A suspect described as a white male with a black hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, black shoes and a mask, had the machete, Sheriff's Office spokesperson Cristie Kahler said.

The second suspect is described as white male who was wearing a royal blue hooded sweatshirt, black sweat pants, black shoes and a mask, according to Kahler.

No one was injured in the incident.

Deputies canvassed the area with a K-9 unit but failed to find anything, according to the flier.

It was the second crime this week in the Baltimore area involving a machete.

A pizza delivery driver in Glen Burnie was robbed by four men who held a machete to his throat early Monday morning, according to news reports.

Kahler could not say if there was any possible link between the two incidents.

"The case remains under investigation, and any connections are unknown, at this time," she said Tuesday afternoon.
