A 24-year-old Pennsylvania woman died Monday after she lost control of her car on a White Hall road and was hit by a dump truck, according to Maryland State Police.
Philomena Addo-Asah, of York, Pa., was driving west on Route 439 (Old York Road) in her Honda Civic. The road was wet, and part of it was covered with snow.
Ms. Addo-Asah lost control and crossed the center line of the highway. A Mack dump truck being driven east by James Hanna Jr., of Dover, Pa., struck her car, according to a State Police press release.
The accident happened near the intersection with Route 23. State Police and the members of the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company were alerted shortly after 11:15 a.m.
Tfc. Aaron Bates, the investigating trooper, said via email that Ms. Addo-Asah was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roads were closed for about four hours after the accident.
Jennifer Chenworth-Price, a spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association, said fire company units left the scene at 1:54 p.m.
Hanna, the truck driver, was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore with "non-life-threatening injuries," according to the news release.
The State Police investigation continues, but the weather appeared to be a "contributing factor," according to the news release.
