Aberdeen rained out in Vermont on Wednesday

You can't win or lose when you don't play and that's exactly what happened to the Aberdeen IronBirds on Wednesday night. The middle game of the three-game series at Vermont was rained out. A double header was scheduled for Thursday.

Aberdeen will travel to Connecticut to take on the Tigers starting tonight (Friday). The series continues with games Saturday and Sunday, before an off-day Monday.

Tuesday is also an off-day, except for three IronBirds, who were selected to the New York-Penn League All-Star Game. Austin Anderson, Jay Gonzalez and David Hess will represent Aberdeen. The game will be played Tuesday at MCU Park in Brooklyn, N.Y.; game time is 7:30 p.m.

Shutout on Tuesday

Aberdeen was shutout 6-0 at the Vermont Lake Monsters in the first of seven road games. The loss brought the IronBirds to 20-37.

In the loss, Aberdeen was limited to just three hits. Tad Gold picked up Aberdeen's first base hit on a bloop single to left field with two outs in the sixth inning. Jamill Moquete and Justin Viele added singles in the eighth and ninth innings respectively.

The Lake Monsters jumped on Aberdeen starter Tanner Chleborad in the first inning. Vermont sent seven batters to the plate and took a 3-0 lead. That's all they needed.

Home games remaining

The IronBirds will be back at Ripken Stadium on Wednesday, starting a two-game set with Hudson Valley. The Lowell Spinners will visit Aug. 22-24, before Aberdeen heads back out for its last road trip of the season. Aberdeen returns home Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 for the final two games of the season.
