Section of Bel Air's Main Street will be closed for television show filming Friday

South Main Street in Bel Air will be closed between Churchville Road and Courtland Street, starting Friday evening through early Saturday morning, for the shooting of scenes for the Netflix drama &quot;House of Cards,&quot; according to Bel Air town leaders.An announcement from Knight Takes King Productions LLC, the production company for the political drama, was posted on the Town of Bel Air's website Wednesday in the Civic Alerts section.Town officials do not expect that filming will disrupt much of the Friday night activity downtown, including a concert by the band Forlorn Strangers at the Bel Air Armory.&quot;All of the businesses have been contacted by 'House of Cards,' so the filming won't interfere with their hours of operation,&quot; Town Administrator Jesse Bane said Wednesday.Crews will start work at 4 p.m. Friday and finish at 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the production company notice.The section of South Main, part of downtown Bel Air's main thoroughfare, will be closed to foot and vehicle traffic between 7:30 p.m. Friday and 12:15 a.m. Saturday. Parking will not be permitted in the area either, according to the notice.&quot;There's going to be very limited access to where the filming is going to take place, so people are not going to be able to walk freely in that area,&quot; Bane said.He stressed downtown visitors are &quot;not going to have any difficulty being on Main Street,&quot; since the filming is confined to the block between Courtland and Churchville Road, just south of the Harford County Courthouse.Representatives of the production have been coordinating with the Bel Air Police Department, the town's Department of Public Works, Harford County and the State Highway Administration, according to Bane.Bane said drivers will still be able to get into the town's Hickory Avenue garage, although production vehicles will be taking up some spaces in town and county-owned parking lots in the area.Crews plan to use the garage, the town's Hickory Avenue lot near the Bel Air Library at Hickory and Pennsylvania avenues and the county lot at the intersection of Churchville Road and South Main, according to the production company notice.A concert to celebrate the release of Forlorn Strangers' self-titled album is scheduled for Friday night at the Armory, about a block-and-a-half north of where Main Street will be closed.Bane said people will still be able to travel along the open portions of Main Street, so they can get to the concert.The quintet includes Bel Air natives Hannah Leigh Lusk, and her sister, Abigail Dempsey.The Armory doors open at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m., according to Craig Ward, board chairman of the Bel Air Downtown Alliance.Ward said drivers will have a &quot;relatively short detour&quot; when coming through downtown.&quot;I think everything should be fine for our concert, and the parking will still be there, and it should be OK for the other businesses,&quot; said Ward, who is also the co-founder of the concert promotion company, Slate Ridge Entertainment.Many outdoor scenes for &quot;House of Cards&quot; have been shot throughout Harford County, as well as Baltimore and Annapolis, and the main production stage, where interior scenes are shot, is in Joppa.The fifth season of the political drama, which is set in Washington, D.C., and stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, is scheduled to air in early 2017.&quot;I think 'House of Cards' filming here in Harford County has been great,&quot; Ward said. &quot;I think it's good exposure for the town, and I will look forward to seeing it on TV.&quot;Ward, who grew up in Harford County, said &quot;it's been fun to see the different locations that I've been able to recognize on the show so far.&quot;
