Maryland State Police are seeking the public's help in finding the driver of a dark blue BMW who left the scene of an accident after hitting a 15-year-old girl Monday evening as she was crossing Baldwin Mill Road in Jarrettsville. The girl had non-life-threatening injuries, according to TFC Lipsky, of the MSP's Bel Air Barrack. She said the accident happened around 5 p.m. as the girl was crossing in the 1100 block of Baldwin Mill just south of the intersection of Norrisville and Jarrettsville roads. The victim was trying to get to a Subway restaurant in a shopping center across the road, according to Lipsky, who is investigating the accident. The girl had crossed the northern lane of Baldwin Mill and was trying to cross against southbound traffic when the driver hit her. The driver then left the scene and continued driving south, Lipsky said.Witnesses described the driver as a white man with dark hair. He was driving a dark blue BMW with possibly tinted windows, but witnesses could not get a license plate number, Lipsky said. The girl was considered to be at fault for the accident, since she was not in a crosswalk, and the driver would not be facing any charges if he had stopped, according to Lipsky.Anyone who has information can call the barrack at 410-879-2101.
