Havre de Grace's planning commission will be holding a series of workshops on the city's new zoning ordinance in August and September.
The public is invited to comment at the start of the meetings but no participation will be allowed during the planning commission review.
All workshops will take place at City Hall at 7 p.m.
The workshops will be held on the following topics (the numbers 1 and 2 refer to densities, with "R1" having the largest lot sizes and "R2" the smallest; "R" is the largest minimum lot size for certain residential dwellings):
•-RB1 (residential business one), RB2 (residential business two) and WF (waterfront overlay) zones on Aug. 14;
•-R1E (residential one east, referring to property east of Route 40), R2E (residential two east) and RO (residential office) zones on Aug. 22;
•-R1W (residential one west, referring to property west of Route 40), R2W (residential two west), R (residential) and AG (agricultural) zones on Aug. 26; and
•-C (commercial), I (industrial) and MOE (mixed office employment) zones on Sept. 9.
A meeting to review the draft edition of the proposed amended zoning ordinance and zoning boundary map will also be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 12 at the Havre de Grace Community Center.
On Sept. 23, a regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. to review a permit application and then move into a workshop session dealing with zoning uses, lot specifications and map definitions.
The ordinance defines zoning descriptions, lays out various zoning uses and includes a map of district and zoning boundaries.
A sixth workshop may be held if needed.
The ordinance can be viewed at the city's website, HavredeGraceMD.com.
City councilman Fred Cullum said at Monday's council meeting that the planning commission is hoping to work through the ordinance on "a very aggressive schedule."
