Havre de Grace Independence Day Commission seeking parade grand marshal

The Havre de Grace Independence Day Commission is seeking parade grand marshal for this year’s celebration.

The 2018 parade grand marshal will perform the duties of event ambassador and should exemplify this year’s parade theme “Havre de Grace Honors America’s Volunteers,” according to a news release from the commission sent from City Hall this week.

Nominees for parade grand marshal should be active volunteers who live in the 21078 ZIP code and serve as a positive role model in the community, according to the release.

“We are looking for a volunteer who inspires our community,” said parade chair Taryn Martin in a statement. “This individual will be someone who has clearly demonstrated a strong commitment to making our city a better place.”

The grand marshal will be recognized at local community events leading up to the parade and will lead the parade on Sunday, July , as an exemplar of volunteerism in the Havre de Grace community.

The grand marshal also will be presented at the judges stand before the parade in recognition of his or her achievements.

The Grand Marshal will be selected by the Havre de Grace Independence Day Commission and announced in the spring.

Nomination forms are available at www.havredegracejuly4.org and must be submitted for consideration by Friday, March 30, 2018.
