A business along Route 40 in Havre de Grace was damaged by fire early last Friday, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office reported.
American Design and Build Ltd. suffered $25,000 in damage after the one-story building at 931 Pulaski Highway caught fire at 12:43 a.m., according to a notice of investigation from the Fire Marshal's Office.
No one was injured in the fire, which was discovered by a passerby, according to the notice of investigation.
About 45 firefighters from Susquehanna Hose Company and the Aberdeen Fire Department spent 10 minutes getting the fire under control.
The fire began on the front of the building, according to the notice of investigation.
It was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials, a spokesperson with the Fire Marshal's Office said Wednesday.
