Decoy & Wildlife Art Festival returns to Havre de Grace

Everything decoy returns to Havre de Grace this weekend for the 35th annual Havre de Grace Decoy & Wildlife Art Festival Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The festival runs 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum on Giles Street and Havre de Middle School and Havre de Grace Activity Center, both on Lewis Street.

This year's honorary chairmen for the festival are Shannon Dimmig and Daniel and Jonathan Irons. Admission is $10 for the weekend; children 12 and younger are free with a paying adult.

Judging of the Atlantic Flyway Classic Carving Competition begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with entries in several categories: decorative life size floating and non-floating divisions, decorative miniature division, Whitey Frank decorative slick division, decorative life size fish division, youth gunning division, gunning decoy division and shorebird division judged at the activity center and river gunning decoy division, Ed Watts gunning rig division and tandem, single and pairs competition at the Decoy Museum.

Also Saturday are retriever dog demonstrations at noon and 2 p.m., old decoy contest at noon and sculling boat demonstrations at 1 and 3 p.m.

Carvers, exhibits and vendors will have booths set up at all three locations throughout the three days.

A silent auction will be held Saturday and a festival raffle drawing is Sunday.
