Havre de Grace Art Show Aug. 19-21 mixes art and entertainment for the whole family

For a great weekend of art and entertainment for the whole family, the 53rd annual Havre de Grace Art Show will be well worth a visit this weekend.

The show's opening celebration is Friday, Aug. 19, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., featuring the popular sounds of LIX and Patches the Clown for the kids. The show runs through the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Held in Tydings Memorial Park overlooking the Susquehanna River and the headwaters of Chesapeake Bay, the Havre de Grace Art Show highlights artists and craftsman exhibiting and selling original work.

Visitors will find fine arts and handmade crafts including drawing, painting in oils, watercolors or acrylics, fibers, floral, glass, jewelry, handmade soap, metal work, photography, pottery, basketry, ceramics, sculpture, and woodworking. There will also be food featuring local restaurants and various dessert vendors, entertainment and fun for the whole family.

All proceeds for the show benefit scholarships and community service. Sponsors include Harford County Economic Development, Harford's Heart Magazine, ShopRite and the Havre de Grace Marina.

Friday, Aug. 19: 6-8:30 p.m, LIX (stage near gazebo), classic rock; 5-8:30 p.m. Patches the Clown, magic show/balloons.

Saturday, Aug. 20: Stage near gazebo: 10-11:30 a.m. Shepherd's Grass, bluegrass gospel; noon-2 p.m. Blue Healer, Southern rock/blues; 3-5 p.m. No Pro Bono, rock/country/pop. Children's entertainment in children's tent near playground, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Patches the Clown, magic show/ balloons.

Sunday, Aug. 21: Stage near gazebo: 10-11:30 a.m. HushDown, blues/rock/jazz; noon-1 p.m. Trish Curreri - Party with Patsy Cline & Friends; 1:15 -1:45 p.m. April Monique & Sanctuary Dance Co., belly dance; 2 to 4 p.m. Chris Monaghan, guitar/acoustic pop. Children's entertainment in children's tent near playground, 10 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Patches the Clown, magic show/balloons.
