The Harford Community College women's soccer team claimed the 2014 NJCAA Region XX Division I Championship in Baltimore on Saturday. The Fighting Owls earned a 2-1 victory over Southern Maryland with a pair of goals scored in the first 21 minutes of the championship contest.

Angela Kuhn (C. Milton Wright) put the Fighting Owls on the board in the game's 18th minute with a shot to the lower left corner. Moments later, the conference's leading scorer, Karley Bush, headed her 24th goal of the year into the back of the net off a corner for the game winner.

The Fighting Owl defense kept the Hawks off the board for the first 85 minutes and held strong in the final five to keep it a one-goal contest and preserve the victory. Ashley King (CMW) made one save in goal to earn her 13th win of the year. Kuhn and Bush were joined on the All-Tournament Teams by Evie Powell (Abingdon-home school), Brooke Nigrin (Fallston) and Nicole Wojcik (John Carroll), who assisted on the game-winning goal.

The win marks the fourth time head coach Jason Muffoletto has led the women's team to a regional title, matching the 2006, 2009 and 2011 campaigns. Southern Maryland defeated Harford in last year's title game by the same 2-1 score.
