Fire damages Edgewood townhouse Thursday morning

A townhouse in Edgewood's Harford Square community was damaged by fire Thursday morning.

The fire on O Court in the 1300 block of Harford Square Drive was reported just before 9 a.m. in a two-story townhouse in the middle of the group, according to a notice of investigation from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

Approximately 30 firefighters and equipment from Joppa-Magnolia, Abingdon, Bel Air and Kingsville volunteer fire companies and the Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes, the notice of investigation states.

No injuries were reported.

Damage to the home is estimated at $50,000, damage to contents at $10,000, according to the notice of investigation.

The fire originated in the basement, the Fire Marshal's Office said. The cause is under investigation.
