Harford County's overall high school graduation rate continued its climb last year, with 88.4 percent of the Class of 2012 graduating in four years.
The graduation rate for students in the "four-year adjusted cohort" was 88.4 percent for the Class of 2012, compared to 87.4 for the Class of 2011 and 85.6 percent for the Class of 2010, according to data posted on Maryland State Department of Education website for the 2013 Maryland Report Card, http://www.mdreportcard.org.
Graduation rates at six of 10 high schools – Bel Air, C. Milton Wright, Fallston, Harford Technical, North Harford and Patterson Mill – were higher than 90 percent for the Class of 2012, according to a recent press release from Harford County Public Schools.
Those same six schools had graduation rates of higher than 90 percent for the Class of 2011 as well.
"Our graduation rate as a county increases steadily each year, which is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff," Interim Superintendent Barbara Canavan stated.
The Maryland Report Card site also had data for students who graduate in three or five years.
The rate for Harford County's five-year cohort was 89.6 percent; the rate for the three-year cohort was less than 5 percent.
Harford's graduation rate for the four-year cohort was nearly five points higher than the state's rate of 83.5 percent, and higher than the Baltimore County rate of 83.8 percent.
The Cecil County Class of 2012 graduated at a rate of 84.07 percent.
The graduation data on the Maryland Report Card website was also broken down by school.
Aberdeen High School's Class of 2012 had a graduation rate of 85.5 percent for its four-year cohort, compared to 81.7 percent for the Class of 2011.
One of the six top performers, Bel Air High School, had a 92.3 percent graduation rate, a slight decrease from 92.5 percent for the Class of 2011.

C. Milton Wright's Class of 2012 graduated at a rate of 92.9 percent, down from 93.9 percent for the Class of 2011.
Edgewood High's graduation rate increased by 5.6 percentage points over three years, from 78.7 percent for the Class of 2010 to 80.5 percent for the Class of 2011 and 84.3 percent for the Class of 2012.
Fallston High School and Harford Tech were at the top of the top performers, both with more than 95 percent of the Class of 2012 graduating in four years, the same rate for the Classes of 2011 and 2010.
Havre de Grace High School's rate jumped 7.6 percentage points over three years, from 82.2 percent for the Class of 2010 to 85.4 percent for the Class of 2011 to 89.8 percent for the Class of 2012.
The members of Joppatowne High's Class of 2012 could boast of a more than 10 percentage point increase in their graduation rate from the Class of 2010; the rate for the Class of 2010 was 67.4 percent, compared to 77.6 percent for the Class of 2012.
North Harford students graduated at a rate of 91.5 percent for 2012, a more than five-point increase from the 86.1 percent rate for the Class of 2010.
Patterson Mill High School's graduation rate remained almost unchanged over three years, with 94.06 percent for the Class of 2010; 94.7 percent for the Class of 2011 and 94.02 percent for the Class of 2012.
