The talented girls lacrosse teams of C. Milton Wright and John Carroll met in Fountain Green Monday night in an non-league game for both. The game was won by the visiting Patriots, 11-9. The result left both teams with 4-3 records.
"Neither team wanted to walk off the field the loser tonight as both teams hustled all over the field," Mustangs coach Brent Ritz said. The Patriots had jumped out to an 6-1 lead, but a three-goal run by the Mustangs closed the gap to 6-4 at halftime.
The Mustangs had the ball with 23 seconds left with a chance to tie, but turned the ball over and John Carroll was able to score on the open goal.
Caroline Sdanowich, who Ritz says was the difference maker all over the field, scored five goals to lead the Patriots. Grace Richards and Parker Day added two goals each, while Charlotte Haggerty and Kelley Reilley each had single goals. Mary Kate Gerety added an assist.
Haley Alexander scored four goals for CMW, while single goals were scored by Haley Matthai, Kendall Little, Julia O'Mara, Jordan Landsman and Moriah Snyder.
Alexander added two assists and Lauren O'Mara had one.
Katy Sharretts had four saves in the John Carroll goal, while two goalies played for CMW. Katelyn Miller made seven saves and Skye Graham made one.
Bobcats win big
Bel Air improved to 5-1 Monday beating host North County, 18-1, in non-league play.
Anna Farley and Lexi Strobel led the Bobcats with three goals apiece. Julia Henry, Emily McQuay, Shannon Williams, Sam Keesey and Natalie Neff scored two goals each and Bekah Riley and Jackie Ranney added single goals.
Assists were credited to Farley (2); Riley (2); Keesey (2); Henry, Emily McQuay, Kami Holt and Neff.
Bobcats goalie Sydney Matthewshad two saves.
Rams beat Panthers
Edgewood(5-2) beat visiting Perryville, 10-5, Monday in non-division play.
Alyssa Rankin paced the scoring with four goals, while Caitlin Rankin and Nicole Wiland scored two goals each. Jordyn Carll and Allison Bomhardt added single goals.
Carll added three assists. Julianne Reif and Tatiyona Stamper had an assist apiece.
Rams goalie Darcy Baynes made 13 saves.
Cobras beat Indians
Harford Tech (4-1) won at Franklin, 14-11, Monday in non-league play.
Sam Volz poured in five goals to lead the Cobras and Courtney Poole had three goals and an assist. Bethany Bishop added two goals and one assist, while single goals were scored by Tori Arcilesi, Amanda Weir, Ally Piercy and Jenna Cianelli. Cianelli also had two assists.
Tech goalie Bryana Wyatt had a busy night with 25 saves.
Huskies lose big
Patterson Mill (3-6) fell behind visiting Dulaney 15-2 in one half. The Huskies went on to lose the non-league game, 21-6.
Sarah Alders scored three goals to lead the Huskies scoring. Kaley Thompson added two goals and Brianna Collins scored one. EJ Karwatka and Olivia Beil had assists.
Patterson Mill goalie Abby Smith registered six saves.
Other Monday scores
In two non-league games, North Harford (3-5) won at Loch Raven, 16-12, while Fallston (2-4) lost to visiting Hereford, 9-3.
Cougars take tourney
Fallston picked a good time to get its first wins of the season, winning the Franklin Invitational Tournament Championship with wins over Franklin, 19-6, and Perry Hall, 14-7, Saturday.
Jesse Brennan and Maddie Hurlburt led the Cougars offense on the day, each scoring six goals. Hurlburt also had two assists.
Izzy Dallam added four goals and an assist, while Logan Gasior had three goals and three assists.
Jane Bradley, Krista Cooper and Katie Donhauser also scored three goals each.
Livia Baker and Emily Stambaugh both scored two goals and Kelly Emge netted one.
Huskies drop two
Participating in the Friendship Tourney at Mount de Sales on Saturday, Patterson Mill was beaten twice.
The game one loss came against Liberty 17-6. Kate Lamberti and Sam Herman scored two goals apiece to pace the Huskies.
EJ Karwatka added a goal and three assists and Sarah Alders chipped in with a goal.
Huskies goalie Abby Smith made three saves.
In game two, the Huskies met a familiar foe in Bel Air. The Bobcats rolled over the Huskies, 16-3.
Lamberti scored twice and Karwatka, once, in the loss.
Patterson Mill goalie Smith had seven saves.
Bel Air stats were not provided.
Rams beat Elks
In non-division play, Edgewood rolled over visiting Elkton, 18-4, Friday.
Alyssa Rankin scored six goals to pace the Rams, while Caitlin Rankin and Jordyn Carll netted three goals apiece. Julianne Reif and Tatiyona Stamper added two goals each and single goals were scored by Nicole Wiland and Riley Johnson. Both Rankin sisters had two assists
Edgewood goalie Darcy Baynes made seven saves.
Hawks fall on road
North Harford lost at Maryvale, 19-11, Friday in non-league play.
Maria Auth led the Hawks with four goals and Claudia Diventi added three goals and one assist
Megan O'Donnell had two goals and an assist, while Claire Macatee had a goal and assist and Ashley Hedrick scored one goal.
Hawks goalie Jodie Enfield finished with six saves.
