Bel Air looking for third straight region title in girls volleyball

Three girls volleyball teams were back on the court Wednesday, looking for a shot to reach a region final.

Two of the three went head-to-head, as Aberdeen visited Bel Air in the Class 3A North-Section II final. The Bobcats won, 3-0, and will host Westminster at 5 p.m. Friday for the region title. Bel Air has won the last two region championships.

In Wednesday's win, Bel Air's winning scores were 25-14, 25-19 and 25-18. Bel Air was led by Lena Sierocinski, who had seven blocks and four kills. Senior outside hitters Kaitlin Cassaday and Taylor White had nine kills apiece. Mariah Thomas contributed three service aces and two blocks and setter Anna Wojciechowski had 15 assists.

Huskies knocked out

Patterson Mill was knocked out by host Rising Sun, 3-0, in the 2A East-Section I final. Scores were 11-25, 11-25 and 13-25.
