Three girls volleyball teams still alive after Monday's play

Nine girls volleyball teams went on the courts Monday, but just three survived the latest round of regonal playoffs.

Among them, the county's best team, Bel Air, moved on in Class 3A North-Section II semifinal play. The Bobcats beat visiting C. Milton Wright, 3-1, by scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-16 and 25-16.

Bel Air was led by Kaitlin Cassaday who had 16 kills, one block, three aces and six digs and Taylor White, who had 11 kills. Mariah Thomas contributed five kills, two service aces and two blocks. Savannah Meyers added five kills and Anna Wojciechowski had 26 assists.

The Bobcats will host Aberdeen Wednesay. The Eagles beat host Edgewood, 3-1. Scores were 25-22, 16-25, 25-22 and 25-22.

Huskies beat Cougars

Patterson Mill defeated visiting Fallston, 3-1, in 2A East-Section I semifinal play. Scores were 16-25, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-22.

Leading the Huskies were Kenna Garman, nine kills, nine aces, one assist, nine digs; Sarah Alders, eight kills, one assist, five blocks for point; Kyrsten Leland, four kills, one ace, one dig, three blocks for point; Emily Ratliff, three kills, one ace, seven digs; snd Morgan Allen, 17 digs.

The Cougars were led by Brittany Callahan, who, with a stellar 20 kills, ended her season with 118 kills. Temi Afolabi added 11 kills. Jordan Ziemann led with 30 assists, while Ivey Wagner led with 18 digs.

Tech loses

Harford Tech fell at the UCBAC's best team, Rising Sun, 3-0, in 2A East. Scores were 11-25, 12-25 and 18-25.

Tech leaders were Karizma Hockaday, one ace, one kill, one block; Bailee Richman, one block, two aces; and Jenna Hathazi, one ace and two assists.

Patterson Mill will visit Rising Sun at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Other scores

In 1A East-Section I semifinals,Joppatowne and Havre de Grace were eliminated after both were beaten, 3-0. Joppatowne lost at Perryville and Havre de Grace fell at Bo Manor.

Rams move on

Edgewood defeated visiting Dundalk, 3-0, Friday in an 3A North-Section II opener. Scores were 25-14, 25-9 and 25-15.

Leaders for Edgewood were Frances Calzada, 11 kills; Julia Gatch, six kills' Tamiya Dean, four aces; and Bianca Tucker, 19 assists.

Other Friday score

Also in 3A North play, C. Milton Wright defeated visiting North Harford, 3-0.

Thursday results

Three Harford County girls volleyball teams started regional playoff action Thursday and all three came away winners.

The Fallston Cougars won their opening round Class 2A East-Section I match over visiting Elkton, 3-1. The scores were 25-11, 20-25, 27-25 and 25-21

The Cougars were led offensively by Temi Afolabi with six kills, Brittany Callahan with five kills and five aces and Jessie Brennan with four kills and five aces.

Fallston will play at Patterson Mill on Monday at 5 p.m.

Cobras beat Indians

Harford Tech was also winner in 2A East, beating host North East, 3-1. Scores were 25-20, 21-25, 25-21 and 25-15.

Leaders for Tech were Alicia Yeager, five aces, five kills, one block; Amber Olson, three kills, two blocks; Jenna Hathazi, two aces, four kills, eight assists, two blocks; Bailee Richman, three kills, four blocks; and Karizma Hockaday, four aces and four kills.

Tech's next match is at Rising Sun on Monday at a time yet determined.

Other score

Aberdeen was a 3-0 winner over visiting Patapsco in 3A North-Section II play.
