Cougars, Huskies, Bobcats win girls volleyball matches Wednesday

Wednesday proved to be another busy day on the court for county girls volleyball teams and like many days this fall, the Fallston Cougars led the way.

The Cougars improved their record to 4-1 with a 3-0 win at North East. Scores were 25-8, 25-20 and 25-15.

The Cougars were led at the net by Phoenix Offutt with seven kills and Asia Avena with six. Emily Mozal had 20 assists and Anna Holehouse contributed four aces and six digs.

Huskies beat Cobras

Patterson Mill needed four games to put away host Harford Tech, 3-1. The Huskies won game one, 26-24; but Tech took game two, 25-13. Patterson Mill then closed out the match with back-to-back 25-20 wins in games three and four.

In defeat, Tech's leaders were Amber Olson, four kills; Alyssa Hockaday, five aces, eight kills; Ashley Huster, three aces; and Jamie Tubao, six assists.

Bobcats beat Patriots

Bel Air also won, beating neighboring and visiting John Carroll in five games. Game one went to Bel Air, 25-22, as did game two, 25-18. With 26-24 wins in both games three and four, John Carroll, forced the fifth and deciding game, which the Bobcats won, 15-7.

Rams lose 3-0

Edgewood lost in straight games to visiting Bo Manor. The Eagles winning scores were 25-5, 25-17 and 25-22.

Leaders for Edgewood were Kelsey Swann, seven assists, two aces; Breanna Barber, three aces, two kills; and Alexis McCoy, two kills. The Rams also had outstanding defense from Julia Gatch and Liz Padin.

Panthers beat Mariners

Joppatowne lost 3-0 at Perryville.

In Perryville's win, the Panthers won by scores 25-11, 25-12 and 25-5.

Leading the Panthers were Emily Merklinger, six aces, 20 service points, 11 kills; Morgan Tennant, 12 service points, 18 assists; Rachel Bell, nine service points; and Teri Wennersten, three kills.
